“Belonging. Believing. Becoming.”
Welcome! We are a community growing as apprentices of Jesus. We serve the Sand Lake neighborhood of Anchorage as part of God’s mission to bring grace and healing to the whole world. We serve the Sand Lake neighborhood of Anchorage as part of God’s mission to bring grace and healing to the whole world.
We were formed, and got our unusual name, in the early 1970’s as part of a planned “Tri-Anchor Parish” in partnership with Turnagain United Methodist and Trinity Presbyterian Church. Things turned out differently, and JLP has been a self-sustaining congregation since 1978.
You can find out more about our Methodist heritage from our Find-A-Church and the Alaska United Methodist Conference. Information about our Presbyterian heritage is available on the Presbytery of Yukon page, including our original “Jewel Lake History and Cursory Survey,” by Thomas B. Handley after our charter on May 16, 1971.
